What does this pin do?
It is pressed into the pump housing and the swashblock bearing seats over it, which stops the bearing rotating or walking under load. A missing or sheared pin lets a bearing turn in its bore, which wears the housing and takes the pump with it. On reassembly each pin has to stand 0.050 to 0.065 in proud of the case, and must not protrude far enough to foul the bearing.
