Denison Pump Model Code Decoder: T7 Vane and Gold Cup

Denison vane pumps carry a long model code that looks impenetrable until you know where the field boundaries fall. Every group means something specific, and two of them decide which seal kit and which cartridge you need. This page decodes the T7 series field by field, then covers the Gold Cup piston range.

Cam ring codes and displacement

This is the field that determines your cartridge kit. The code maps directly to volumetric displacement in milliliters per revolution.

On a double pump such as T7DD or T7EE you will see two cam ring codes, one for P1 and one for P2, and they are frequently different. Both must be quoted, in order, when ordering cartridge parts.

Rotation, porting, design letter and seal class

Design letter A, B and so on Revision level. Quote it, since internals changed between revisions.
Seal class 1 S1, Buna-N. The standard kit.
4 S4, EPDM. For phosphate ester and water glycol fluids.
5 S5, Viton. For high temperature and aggressive fluids.

The seal class digit is the one people miss. A pump running phosphate ester with a Buna-N kit fitted will fail quickly, and the two kits look almost identical in the box. If your code ends in a 4 or a 5, say so when you order. Browse Denison seal kits.

Gold Cup piston pumps: the frame number is the displacement

The Gold Cup range uses a much simpler convention. The number after the P is, near enough, the maximum displacement in cubic inches per revolution.

So a P14 is a 14 cubic inch per revolution frame. Intermittent ratings run to 6000 psi on the P6, P7, P11 and P14, 5000 psi on the P8, and 5500 psi on the P24 and P30.

Does Parker branding change the code?

No. Parker Hannifin acquired Denison, and current bulletins are published under Parker part numbers such as HY29-0074, but the Denison model code convention is unchanged. A pump badged Parker Denison decodes exactly as above. See also our Parker pump identification guide.

Take a code such as T7D-B42-1R00-A1M0 and split it into fields: series and mounting flange, cam ring displacement, shaft type, rotation, porting, design letter, seal class, then mounting and connection variables. The cam ring code and the seal class are the two fields that most often determine which parts you need.

What does the B number mean on a Denison vane pump?

It is the cam ring code, and it sets volumetric displacement in milliliters per revolution. On a T7D, for example, B14 is 43.2 ml/rev and B35 is 111.4 ml/rev. It identifies your cartridge.

What is the difference between T7D and T7DS?

The mounting flange. T7D uses an ISO 3019-2 125 A2 HW two-bolt flange, T7DS uses an SAE C two-bolt flange to J744c. The hydraulic internals share the same cam ring codes.

What displacement is a Denison P14 Gold Cup?

14.00 cubic inches per revolution, or 229.5 cm3, rated 5000 psi continuous with a maximum speed of 2400 rpm at full stroke. On the Gold Cup range the frame number is the displacement.

Which seal kit does my Denison pump take?

The seal class digit decides it: 1 is S1 Buna-N, 4 is S4 EPDM for phosphate ester and water glycol, and 5 is S5 Viton for high temperature or aggressive fluids. Fitting the wrong material will fail quickly.
