Five Steps to Decode a Parker Model Code

Find the nameplate

Look on the machined flat of the housing, beside or opposite the ports. Parker stamps or laser-etches a plate carrying the model code, a serial number and, on most families, a design or date code. On a Torqmotor it is on the flat opposite the ports.

Read the prefix

The first two or three characters name the family. Use the prefix table below, it will tell you what you are holding and which original brand it traces back to.

Decode the model string

Every Parker code reads left to right through fixed fields: displacement, mounting and porting, shaft, rotation, seals and control. Those fields determine every service part in the unit.

Check the seal material and design series

The seal character decides which kit fits. On a Torqmotor the date code decides it instead. This is where most wrong orders happen.

If nothing matches, check the original brand

A Parker number that returns no results is usually a Denison, Commercial Intertech, Ross or VOAC unit still cataloged under its original name.

Most Parker-badged industrial pumps are Parker Denison. If your code starts with T6, T67, T7, or P followed by a number, it decodes with the Denison model code, not a Parker one. Go to the Denison model code decoder.

Pressure falls as the gear gets wider. On a 330 series, gear widths 05 through 15 are rated 3500 PSI, the 17 drops to 3250 PSI and the 20 to 3000 PSI. A wider gear is more flow, not more pressure.

Match the seal to the fluid, not to what came out. Buna-N in a hot system or on a phosphate ester will swell and fail early. Above roughly 180 °F, or on any non-petroleum fluid, choose Viton / fluorocarbon. If you are unsure, tell us the fluid and operating temperature and we will spec the kit.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is the model number on a Parker hydraulic pump?

On the nameplate, on a machined flat beside or opposite the ports. It carries the model code, a serial number and usually a design or date code. If the plate is gone, the housing and end cover castings still identify the frame, and photographs of the shaft, flange and port pattern are normally enough.

How do I identify a Parker gear pump?

PGP is a pump, PGM a motor, followed by the series, 05, 315, 330, 350, 365, or 500 through 640. The characters after that give unit type, rotation and outboard bearing, mounting flange, port end cover, gear housing, gear width and shaft. Gear width is the displacement.

How do I identify a Parker hydraulic motor?

A T-prefix, TB, TC, TE, TF, TG, TH, TJ, TL or TS, is a Torqmotor, read as series, displacement, mount/port, shaft, rotation, options. An M with a displacement number is a Gold Cup motor. PGM is a gear motor.

Why does my Parker part number return no results?

Parker absorbed Denison, Commercial Intertech, Ross Gear and VOAC, and many units are still cataloged under the original brand. An MB, MF or MG motor is now a TB, TF or TG Torqmotor; a Commercial Intertech gear pump is now a PGP. Search the original brand.

Is there a Parker serial number lookup?

Not publicly. The serial identifies the individual unit and its build date; the model code is what determines service parts. Decode that first. Where a date or design code exists, as on the Torqmotor, it matters, because it changes which seal kit fits.

Can you identify my pump from a photo?

Yes, and there is no charge. Send a photo of the nameplate if it is readable, plus shots of the shaft end, mounting flange and port face. We identify Parker, Denison, Commercial, Ross and VOAC units daily and will come back the same day.
