How to Read a Gold Cup Model Code pump and motor codes share the same structure
Pump or motor P pump · M motor
Displacement 6 7 8 11 14 24 30, the nominal displacement in cubic inches per revolution
Type F fixed · G fixed with shuttle package · M fixed with thru-drive · N fixed with thru-drive and shuttle · V variable · H variable, high efficiency
Shaft 2 keyed SAE with mechanical shaft seal · 3 splined SAE with mechanical seal · 4 keyed SAE-D · 5 splined SAE-D · 7 keyed with double lip seal · 8 splined with double lip seal · 9 long keyed with double lip · 10 long keyed with mechanical seal
Rotation R clockwise · L counter-clockwise
Seals 1 Nitrile (Buna-N) · 4 EPR · 5 Fluorocarbon (Viton)
Secondary controls omit none · 2 volume indicator · 4 torque limiter and volume indicator · 6 cam position feedback potentiometer · 7 cam position feedback RVDT
Efficiency H high efficiency, P24 only · omit for standard
The high pressure mechanical shaft seal can be changed without disassembling the transmission, which is the single biggest labor saving on a Gold Cup. Double lip seals are also available. Read the shaft digit before you order: shaft codes 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 are mechanical seal builds, 7, 8 and 9 are double lip.
Frequently Asked Questions
How do I read a Parker Denison Gold Cup model code?

It starts with P for a pump or M for a motor, then the displacement number, which is the displacement in cubic inches per revolution: 6, 7, 8, 11, 14, 24 or 30. After that comes the type (F fixed, G fixed with shuttle package, M fixed with thru-drive, N fixed with thru-drive and shuttle, V variable), the shaft code, rotation R or L, the seal code and the control options.

What is the displacement of a Gold Cup P24?

24.6 cubic inches per revolution, which is 403.2 cm3/rev. The number in the model code is the nominal displacement in cubic inches, so a P6 is 6.00 in3/rev (98.3 cm3), a P11 is 11.00 (180.3 cm3) and a P30 is 30.60 (501.5 cm3).

What pressure does a Gold Cup run?

5000 PSI (350 bar) continuous across the range. Intermittent is 6000 PSI (420 bar) on the P6, P7, P11 and P14, 5000 PSI on the P8 and 5500 PSI (370 bar) on the P24 and P30.

Which seal material is in my Gold Cup?

Read the seal digit in the model code: 1 is Nitrile (Buna-N), 4 is EPR and 5 is Fluorocarbon (Viton). Match the seal to the fluid, not to what came out of the pump. Buna in a hot system or on a phosphate ester will swell and fail early.

Is Gold Cup a Parker or a Denison product?

Both. Gold Cup is a Denison design that Parker continued after acquiring Denison Hydraulics. It is cataloged as Parker Denison, and the precision barrel bearing that defines it was a Denison feature for over thirty years.

Can you supply Gold Cup parts and rebuild kits?

Yes. We supply seal kits, rotating groups, shafts, valve blocks and controls for the Gold Cup range, and we hold one of the deepest Parker Denison catalogs anywhere with over 2,400 line items. Send the full model code from the nameplate.
