Vickers 3520V / 3520VQ / 3525V / 3525VQ Double Vane Pump: Parts Catalog & Rebuild Guide
Vickers 3520V / 3525V Double Vane Pump: Parts Catalog, Service Data & Rebuild Guide
The Vickers 3520V and 3525V double vane pumps put a 35V shaft end section and a 20V or 25V cover end section on a common shaft in a single housing, giving two independent flows from one drive. The VQ versions use the high performance flex-side plate cartridge. Each end carries its own cartridge kit, sized independently by the displacement codes in the model number, so a correct order needs both tables below. RestoPower supplies OEM or aftermarket equivalent cartridge kits, vane kits, rings, rotors, covers, relief valves and seal kits for every 3520V and 3525V build.
Important note printed on the drawing: use 3520VQ parts to service 3520V-10 and -12 design units.

- Bronze faces must be installed toward the rotor. This applies to the flex-side plate and the support plates at both ends.
- Sealing ring 419673: install into the body first, then install the cartridge kit. The cover end equivalent is 419672.
- Shaft seal: wipe the outside diameter with oil before pressing it into the body, then apply grease to the seal inside diameter before installing the shaft.

How to Rebuild a Vickers 3520V or 3525V Double Vane Pump
A 3520V or 3525V is two vane pumps sharing one shaft and one housing, so treat it as two cartridge jobs done in sequence. The shaft end is a 35V section and the cover end is a 20V or 25V section, and their cartridge kits are not interchangeable. Work out which end has failed before you order parts: very often only one has. Budget three to four hours for a full double rebuild.
Step 1: Identify Which Section Failed
Isolate each outlet and check pressure and flow end by end. A weak cover end with a healthy shaft end is common, because the two sections rarely see the same duty. If the case oil carries metal, rebuild both ends, since the sections share a housing and debris migrates between them.
Step 2: Clean, Drain and Mark
Wash the outside of the pump before anything comes apart and drain the remaining oil. Read the drained oil: bronze glitter points to a cartridge or bearing, steel points to the shaft or a rotor. Scribe the cover to housing relationship and both port positions before undoing anything, and note your cover type, because a flow control or straight thread cover is a different sub-assembly from a plain 4-bolt cover.
Step 3: Remove the Cover and Cover End Cartridge
Remove the four cover bolts evenly in a crossing pattern and lift the cover straight off. If an integral relief valve is fitted, remove it and note its setting code. Withdraw the cover end cartridge as an assembly: inlet support plate, cam ring, rotor with its 10 vanes and inserts, flex-side plate and outlet support plate. Note which face of the cam ring pointed toward the cover, and check the two locating pins have not stayed in the cover.
Step 4: Remove the Shaft End Cartridge
Undo the four inlet housing bolts and separate the housing, then withdraw the shaft end cartridge. Keep the two cartridges separate and labelled; the vane kits and rings look similar between ends but are not interchangeable.
Step 5: Shaft, Bearing and Seal
Remove the retaining rings and press the shaft out from the drive end. Inspect the shaft seal running surface for a wear groove, since a grooved shaft will leak straight through a new seal. Fit shaft seal kit 920056, or 920068 on an F3 build.
Step 6: Inspect and Decide, End by End
- Cam rings: look for a wear step at the two lift zones on each ring. Any ridge you can feel with a fingernail condemns that whole cartridge kit.
- Rotor slots: check for bell mouthing at the outer edge, which lets the vanes cock and chatter.
- Vanes and inserts: chipped or rounded leading edges mean that section has been running cavitated. Fix the inlet or it will happen again.
- Flex-side plates and support plates: scoring or bronze pickup on the running faces condemns them. Flex side plate kits are 923956 at the shaft end and 923955 at the 20VQ cover end.
- Relief valve: a valve that will not hold its setting is usually a tired 239766 spring or a scored poppet seat.
Step 7: Reassemble, Torque and Run In
- Fit complete new cartridge kits at both ends for your capacity codes. Never mix a new cam ring with old vanes; they wear as a matched set.
- Install the bronze faces toward the rotor and fit sealing ring 419673 into the body before the shaft end cartridge, and 419672 before the cover end cartridge.
- Install the relief valve into the cover before the cartridge kit goes in.
- Wipe the shaft seal outside diameter with oil before pressing it in, then grease the seal inside diameter before the shaft goes in.
- Confirm the locating pins are seated at both ends, and torque the cartridge screws to their low lb.in figures: 4-5 N.m (40-50 lb.in) on a 3525VQ, 30 ± 5 lb.in on a 3520VQ.
- Prefill both sections with clean oil, then oil the threads and torque the inlet housing bolts to 140-160 lb.ft on a 3525VQ or 150 ± 10 lb.ft on a 3520VQ, and the cover bolts to 88-101 N.m (65-75 lb.ft) or 40-50 lb.ft respectively.
- Turn the shaft by hand; it should rotate smoothly. Start unloaded at low speed, bleed both circuits, and load each end separately to confirm pressure and flow.
Common 3520V and 3525V Faults
- One outlet weak, the other fine: that section's cartridge kit only. Rebuild it and check the inlet.
- Whining or chattering under load: worn cam ring and vanes, or a restricted inlet. Check the inlet first.
- Oil weeping at the shaft: worn shaft seal, or a grooved shaft if the leak returns quickly.
- System pressure capped below normal: integral relief valve set low or spring 239766 tired.
- Leak between body and housing after rebuild: sealing ring 419673 fitted after the cartridge instead of before it.
- Rapid cartridge failure after rebuild: a bronze face installed away from the rotor.
- Metal in the case: rebuild both ends, the housing is shared.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do you rebuild a Vickers 3520V double vane pump?
Work out which section failed by checking pressure and flow at each outlet, then scribe the clocking, remove the four cover bolts and withdraw the cover end cartridge, undo the four inlet housing bolts and withdraw the shaft end cartridge, press out the shaft and fit shaft seal kit 920056. Fit complete new cartridge kits at both ends with all bronze faces toward the rotor and sealing ring 419673 installed in the body before the cartridge, then torque the inlet housing bolts to 150 plus or minus 10 lb.ft and the cover bolts to 40-50 lb.ft with the threads oiled, and run each circuit in separately.
What is the bolt torque on a Vickers 3525V?
The four 42955 inlet housing bolts torque to 140 to 160 lb.ft with the threads oiled, and the four 11163 cover bolts torque to 88 to 101 N.m, which is 65 to 75 lb.ft, also oiled. The two 413834 cartridge screws are a much lower 4 to 5 N.m, or 40 to 50 lb.in.
What cartridge kit fits the shaft end of a 3525VQ?
It depends on the SAE rated capacity of that end. A 21 GPM shaft end takes cartridge kit 413420, 25 GPM takes 413421, 30 GPM takes 413422, 35 GPM takes 413418 and 38 GPM takes 413419. The F3 equivalents run from 421582 to 421586.
Can I use 3520VQ parts on a 3520V?
Yes for the -10 and -12 design units. The drawing states directly that 3520VQ parts are used to service 3520V-10 and -12 design units, so the VQ cartridge is the correct service part for those builds.
What seal kit fits a Vickers 3525VQ?
Single shaft seal kit 920056, or 920068 for the F3 equivalent. The mounting kit is FB-C-10. Note that flex side plate kit 923956, when ordered individually, includes four F3 seal pak sub-assemblies.
