Every Rexroth A10VSO and A10VO pump carries its whole specification in the model code stamped on the nameplate. Decode it and you know the frame size, the design generation, the control, the rotation, the shaft, the ports and the seal material, which is everything you need to order the right parts. This is a real code read left to right. Every A10V code follows the same order.

Block What it means
A10V Axial piston variable displacement unit. A10V is the 4000 PSI family, A10VS is the 5100 PSI family.
O Open circuit.
71 Frame size, the displacement in cc per revolution. This is the number that decides which parts fit.
DFR Control type. See the control table below.
/31 Design generation, also called the series. 31, 32 and 52 are the common ones and they are not interchangeable for internal parts.
L Rotation. L is left hand, R is right hand.
P Seal material. P is Buna-N (NBR), V is Viton (FKM).
S Shaft. S is standard, P is metric.
C Housing. C is the 2 hole housing, A is the 4 hole housing.

DRG Pressure compensator with hydraulic pressure cut off.
DFLR Combined pressure, flow and power control.

Service note that catches people out: a DFR and a DFLR do not share a housing. If you are converting a DFR pump to a DFLR you have to change the housing as well as the control. A DFLR unit is the more flexible one to keep on the shelf, because it can be taken back to a DFR easily.

Porting: the port code tells you whether the main ports leave the pump from the side or the rear. Side ported units bring the main ports out of the body flank, rear ported units bring them out through the end cover. Because the same numeral can mean different things across frame sizes, the safe check is to look at the pump itself. If the porting is wrong nothing else about the pump will save you, so send us the full code and we will confirm it against the frame size before anything ships.

A10V seal kits by frame size and design

Seal kits are chosen by frame size, then design generation, then seal material. A 31 design kit will not serve a 52 design pump of the same frame size. These are the Rexroth kit numbers we work to:

What the word kit means on a Rexroth part number

A Rexroth part number ending in XXXX is a kit, and a kit here means an unassembled rotating group, not a seal kit. A rotating group kit does not include the shaft, the cover or the coupling, so it is only usable if you already have those on the shelf. This is the most common ordering mistake we see on A10V units: the kit arrives and the job still cannot be finished. If you are rebuilding, tell us what you already have and we will quote the complete set.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between A10VO and A10VSO?

They are the same pump family and share the frame sizes. The A10V group is rated to 4000 PSI and the A10VS group is rated to 5100 PSI. Most parts are common within a frame size and design generation, which is why our catalogs cover both together.

Where do I find the frame size on a Rexroth A10 pump?

It is the number immediately after A10VO or A10VSO in the nameplate code. In A10VO71DFR/31L-PSC12K68 the frame size is 71 and the design generation is 31.

Are 31 design and 52 design parts interchangeable?

No. The design generation is the number after the slash and it changes the internals. A 31 design seal kit will not serve a 52 design pump even when the frame size is identical, so always read both numbers before ordering.

What does DFR mean on an A10VSO pump?

DFR is a pressure compensator with open flow control. DRG adds a hydraulic pressure cut off, and DFLR is the combined pressure, flow and power control. Converting a DFR to a DFLR also requires a housing change.
