How a variable piston pump works (30-second version)

Pistons ride against a tilting swashplate inside a rotating barrel. The greater the swashplate angle, the longer the piston stroke and the more oil moves per revolution. A pressure compensator automatically reduces that angle as system pressure climbs, so the pump delivers only the flow the circuit needs — efficient and cool-running. When one fails it’s almost always seals, the shaft seal, or the rotating group — all rebuildable.

Piston pump seal kits

Most piston-pump leaks are fixed with a seal kit, not a new pump. Browse all hydraulic seal kits or the full Eaton / Vickers parts & seal-kit hub.

Frequently asked questions

What Vickers piston pump series does RestoPower carry parts for?

PVH, PVB, PVQ, PVM, PVE, and PFB — including seal kits, shafts, shaft seals, bearings, rotating-group parts, and hardware.

How do I know which piston pump I have?

Read the model code on the nameplate or housing, or use our pump identification guide to work from the pump’s physical features when the tag is missing.

Do you sell seal kits separately from the pump?

Yes. Nearly every leak is repaired with a seal kit; each family’s catalog lists the correct kit and rebuild parts.
