Vickers V10 Vane Pump: Specs, Identification, Parts & Seal Kits
The Vickers V10 is the small frame of the V series round body vane pumps, and one of the most widely fitted industrial vane pumps ever made. It is a fixed displacement, balanced vane design that rebuilds around a replaceable cartridge kit, which is why a worn V10 is almost always worth repairing rather than replacing.

Is it a V10 or a V20?
This is the question we get most, and getting it wrong means the cartridge kit will not fit. They are different frames and share no internals.
| V10 | V20 | |
|---|---|---|
| Frame size | Smaller body | Larger body |
| Typical flow | About 3 to 7 GPM | About 6 to 13 GPM |
| Typical pressure | Up to 2000 PSI | Up to 3000 PSI |
| Cartridge kit | V10 specific | V20 specific, not interchangeable |
| Parts catalog | V10 parts | V20 parts |
The model code is stamped on the pump body or nameplate and begins with V10. It carries the ring size, shaft, port arrangement and rotation. If the stamping is worn, measure the body and shaft and send us photos, we identify these every day. V10 symptoms and what they mean
| Symptom | Usual cause | What to order |
|---|---|---|
| Whine or chatter under load | Worn cam ring and vanes, or a restricted inlet | Cartridge kit, and fix the suction side |
| Low flow at rated speed | Worn cartridge | Cartridge kit |
| Oil weeping at the shaft | Worn shaft seal, or a grooved shaft if it leaks again quickly | Seal kit, and inspect the shaft |
| Will not prime | Suction air leak, or vanes stuck in the rotor slots | Cartridge kit, and check the inlet |
| Bronze glitter in the drained oil | Cartridge or bearing breaking up | Cartridge kit and shaft bearing |
Rebuilding a V10 in short
Budget one to two hours. The full step by step, including torque sequence, is in the V series rebuild guide.
- Wash and drain the pump. Read the oil: bronze means cartridge or bearing, steel means shaft or rotor.
- Scribe the cover to body relationship and the port positions before opening it. V series pumps can be reassembled rotated.
- Lift the cartridge out as an assembly and note which face of the cam ring pointed at the cover. The ring is directional and a reversed ring will not build flow.
- Press the shaft out from the drive end, replace the bearing as standard, and check the seal running surface for a wear groove.
- Fit a complete new cartridge kit. Never put new vanes in an old cam ring.
- Prefill the body with clean oil, torque the cover evenly in a crossing pattern, then run in unloaded.

Frequently asked questions
What is the flow rate of a Vickers V10 pump?
Roughly 3 to 7 GPM depending on the ring size in the cartridge and the drive speed. The exact figure for your build comes from the ring size in the model code.
What is the difference between a Vickers V10 and a V20?
Frame size and output. The V10 is the smaller frame at roughly 3 to 7 GPM and 2000 PSI, the V20 is the larger at roughly 6 to 13 GPM and 3000 PSI. They are not interchangeable and take different cartridge kits.
Can a Vickers V10 be rebuilt?
Yes, and it usually should be. Everything that wears sits in the cartridge kit, so a rebuild restores the pump to as new performance for a fraction of a replacement.
Which way round does the cam ring go?
It is directional. Note which face pointed toward the cover during teardown, because a reversed ring will not build flow.
Do you supply obsolete V10 parts?
Yes. Send the model code or the part number and we will confirm what we hold or can source.
