Series 90 Variable pumps · fixed motors · variable motors
The flagship Sauer-Sundstrand / Sauer-Danfoss / Danfoss heavy-duty closed-circuit hydrostatic platform. Frames 042 through 250 cc/rev in current Danfoss production; 030 frame and 90MV variable motors are legacy. Click any document for what it covers, what superseded it, and what it documents that newer revisions have dropped.
520L0603Series 90 Axial Piston Pumps: Technical InformationCurrent
The current technical information document for the Series 90 closed-circuit hydrostatic variable displacement pump line. Documents the 14-position model code (e.g., 90L055 KA 1 N 6 S 3 C6 C 03 NNN 35 35 24), specifications for all current pump frame sizes, control options (CA, DC, DD, HF, KA, KN, KT, KP, MA, MB, FA, FB, FC, NA, NB and others), endcap port options, charge pump displacements (B/C/D/E/F/H/J/K codes), and external charge supply configurations (L and N codes).
Latest revision reviewed: Rev 0804, March 2016. Earlier revisions also exist in the public domain (Rev F, March 2004).
520L0604Series 90 Axial Piston Motors: Technical InformationCurrent
Companion technical information document to 520L0603, covering the Series 90 motor line. Documents fixed displacement motors (90M flange-mount, 90K cartridge-mount) at frames 055, 075, 100 and 130. Loop flushing orifice options (codes E4/N4, E6/N6, F0/A0, F3/A3, G0/B0, G3/B3, H0/C0) drive the recommended charge pump displacement on the paired pump.
Variable displacement motors (90MV) at frames 055 and 075 are documented in the older 1998 Sauer-Sundstrand Service Manual but were removed from the current TI in November 2013, so they are now legacy product.
Latest revision reviewed: Rev 0606, July 2019.
BLN-2-41660Series 90 42cc through 250cc Axial Piston Pump Quick Reference Service Parts ManualCurrent service parts reference
The consolidated Series 90 service parts manual covering all six frame sizes in active production at the time of publication. Provides charge pump assembly part numbers per displacement code (e.g., 11 cc/rev code B: P/Ns 501404 for 42cc and 501990 for 55cc), cylinder block assembly P/Ns by frame (e.g., 8520-series valve plate naming pattern for 42cc, 80520S07 family for 55cc), Multi-Function Valve options, shaft codes (C3, C6, C7, C8, F1, K1, K2, K3, S1, S3, T1, T2, T3, T4, TF) and service bulletin references.
This document is the closest thing to a master OEM SKU index for Series 90 in the public domain.
BLN-2-40588Series 90 Price BookSuperseded
A parts price-list document referenced in the 1998 Sauer-Sundstrand Series 90 Service Manual as the source of full part-number listings for Series 90. Almost certainly never made publicly available even in its time, and the BLN-2-41660 service parts manual replaced its function.
If you have a service literature reference that points to BLN-2-40588 for a specific Series 90 part number, the equivalent listing is in BLN-2-41660, which covers the same product line with expanded frame coverage.
BLN-10029Series 90 Pumps: Technical Information (pre-2000 designator)Legacy designator
BLN-10029 is the older Sundstrand-Sauer document number that was carried forward into the Sauer-Danfoss era as 520L0603. Same content lineage; updated formatting and frame coverage.
For historical 030 frame pump units (smaller-displacement Series 90 from the early 1990s, no longer in current production), the older BLN-10029 revisions are the most likely source of specification data, because the current 520L0603 has dropped 030 frame coverage.
BLN-10030Series 90 Motors: Technical Information (pre-2000 designator)Legacy designator
The motor counterpart to BLN-10029. Carried forward as 520L0604 in the Sauer-Danfoss / Danfoss era. The older revisions still document the 030 and 042 fixed motor frame sizes that no longer appear in current Danfoss publication.
1998 SM1998 Sauer-Sundstrand Series 90 Service ManualReference
The most comprehensive single Series 90 service manual covering 11 years of production. Documents all rotating-group internals (cylinder blocks, pistons, slipper retainers, bearing plates, cradle swashplate assemblies, servo systems), shaft seal replacement procedures, plug and fitting torque tables for all frame sizes, charge pressure check procedures, and references the BLN-10107 service bulletin (charge pump design change, manufacturing-date window 89-17 to 93-09) and SB-1988-009 through SB-1989-006 series.
Where current Danfoss documentation has dropped historical frame sizes, this manual is the primary public reference for the 030 frame pump, the 030 / 042 fixed motors and the 055 / 075 variable motors.
BC152886483413en-000911Series 90 Pumps: Technical Information (Danfoss layout, PLUS+1 reference)Current
A current-revision Series 90 pump TI in the newer Danfoss document layout. Confirms PLUS+1 controller compatibility and the current Danfoss naming. Content overlaps 520L0603; primarily a layout / branding update.
BC152886484177en-000307Series T90 Axial Piston Pumps: Technical InformationCurrent, distinct line
A separate, cost-reduced product line developed in China alongside the standard Series 90. Cross-reference with mainline Series 90 internals is not assumed and should be confirmed per part. If a Series T90 cylinder block or rotating group cross-references back to Series 90 internals, T90 obsolete-parts inventory becomes a potential sourcing path for Series 90 rebuilds.
BC195786485247en-000302Series T90 Axial Piston Motors: Technical InformationCurrent, distinct line
Motor counterpart to BC152886484177en-000307. Same caveats apply regarding cross-reference back to mainline Series 90 motor internals.
Series 20 / 21-27 Heavy-duty closed-circuit hydrostatic predecessor to Series 90
The Sundstrand Series 20 product family (frames 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26 and 27) covers pumps and motors that pre-date Series 90 by roughly two decades. Replacement-only product; new-build moved to Series 90 in 1987. The Sauer-Danfoss era renumbered some frame sizes to 3-digit displacement designators (070, 089, 334) so the same physical product is searchable under both naming conventions.
BLN-9565Series 20 Pumps and Motors: Technical Information (Sundstrand-Sauer)Superseded
The original technical information document for the Series 20 axial piston pump and motor product line. Operating parameters, speed limits, pressure limits, and life expectancy data per frame size are all referenced back to BLN-9565 in later parts manuals.
Why this number still matters: service literature, OEM equipment manuals, and field rebuilders continue to reference BLN-9565 even though Sauer-Danfoss replaced it in 2003 with 520L0517 / DKMH.PN.315.A1.02. If you have a Series 20 unit identified by a BLN-9565 reference, the current technical data is in 520L0517 and the current service-parts data is in BLN-2-41626 (motors) and BLN-2-41652 (pumps).
520L0517Sauer-Danfoss Series 20 Axial Piston Pumps: Technical Information (DKMH.PN.315.A1.02)Current
The 2003 Sauer-Danfoss successor to BLN-9565. Critical naming-convention finding: the Sauer-Danfoss era renumbered Series 20 frame sizes from 2-digit numerals (21, 22, 23) to 3-digit displacement numerals (070, 089, 334).
The 2003 document only covers frames 21/22/23/27 (under the new numbering 070/089/334). Frames 24, 25 and 26 were apparently discontinued as new-build options by Sauer-Danfoss circa 2003, though those frame sizes remain serviceable through the older BLN-2-41626 and BLN-2-41652 service-parts manuals.
Configuration codes used in this document: PS (standard) and AA 010 (with auxiliary). Type designation: SPV 2/070, SPV 2/089, SPV 2/334. The SPV (Series Piston Variable) prefix is searched for in the field independently from "Series 22" or "Series 23" terminology.
BLN-2-41626Series 20 Heavy Duty Variable Motors: Service Parts ManualCurrent service parts reference
The most-comprehensive public service-parts document for Series 20 variable motors. Documents the master model code, frame-size-to-displacement mapping, frame-size-to-mounting-flange (SAE C through SAE F), end cap port options, charge pump gasket part numbers per frame (P/N 9801235 for frames 20-23, P/N 9801604 for frames 24-27), valve plate part numbers (LH and RH, early and late variants per frames 25-27 per Service Bulletin 317982), and the full rotating-group component catalog per frame size (cylinder block kits, piston kits, slipper retainers, bearing plates, cradle bearings).
BLN-2-41652Series 20 Heavy Duty Variable Pumps: Service Parts Manual (Rev B)Current service parts reference
The variable pump counterpart to BLN-2-41626. Adds two distinct variable-pump letter-designation systems (one for gear-style charge pump units, one for gerotor-style), eight charge pump configuration options with full kit P/Ns (e.g., 0.75/1.1 CID aluminum gear style kit P/Ns 9510655 / 9510656 through 1.9 CID gerotor with 8cc integral chute kit P/N 9510663), twelve control kit configurations (MDC standard / annular / electric destroke variants from 9510368-2001 onward), and overhaul gasket kits 9510227 / 9510230 / 9510233 / 9510236 / 9510239 / 9510316 / 9510242. Confirms Service Bulletins SB-8710 (trunnion bearing kit supersession) and SB-8824 Rev. A (improved adapter design with charge pressure test port).
BLN-9698Series 20 Open Circuit Pumps: BrochureNiche / superseded
Documents the open-circuit variants of the Series 20 pump line, fewer in number than the closed-circuit hydrostatic pumps and motors documented in BLN-9565. Listed for completeness; the open-circuit variants are uncommon enough in the aftermarket that BLN-9698 is rarely the document a rebuilder is searching for.
Form 2-41616 to 2-41622Series 20 Manifold Options Cross-Reference FormsReference
Series of cross-reference forms, one per frame size, that map model-code position 8 (manifold options) to internal manifold group numbers. The slave plate (Form 2-41627) and rotary bypass manifold (Form 2-41631) confirm that multi-motor configurations were a documented Series 20 deployment.
Series 15 / Series 70 Lawn, garden and commercial-turf hydrostatic transmissions
The lawn-and-garden hydrostatic line. Series 70 BD covers the small-frame BDU integrated transmissions used on residential mowers and rear-engine riders. 15 Series covers the 15 PV variable pumps, 15 PT tandem pumps, 15 MF fixed motors, 15 U integrated transmissions and 15 In-line, used on commercial-turf zero-turn mowers and garden tractors. Series 70 and 15 Series share the same Sauer-Sundstrand technical information document (BLN-10006) but use different rotating-group technology and are not interchangeable.
BLN-10006Axial Piston Pumps, Motors and Transmissions: Series 70 / 15 Series Technical InformationCurrent technical reference
The combined Series 70 / 15 Series technical information document. Documents BDU model variants with axle interface compatibility (Hydro-Gear 210-1000, 210-2500, 210-3000), 15 Series operating parameters (4500 psi continuous and 4500 psi max system pressure, 4200 rpm continuous, 4400 max), bypass valve mechanisms (spool, screw, external plunger styles), 15 PV auxiliary mounting pad spec (SAE A, 9-tooth 16/32 pitch coupling, 450 lbf-in continuous torque), and the 50-180 PSI charge relief setting confirmed against Toro / Wheel Horse referenced data.
Cross-reference signal: the Series 70 BD line specifically targets the same axle interfaces as Hydro-Gear lawn-tractor units. Customers searching "Hydro-Gear 210-1000 replacement" are direct prospects for these Sundstrand units.
SM-BLN-9646-E15 Series Service ManualCurrent service reference
The service manual for the 15 Series product family. Companion to BLN-10006 (which is technical information / specifications); SM-BLN-9646-E is the actual service / repair / parts-list document. Because the public mirror is image-only, specific component-level part numbers require either the original PDF or OCR work.
15 Series Inventory ListingsAftermarket-Sourced 15 Series Model NumbersReference (aftermarket)
The in-the-field 15 Series model number range is broader than what the publicly available 1993 BLN-10006 technical information document explicitly catalogs. Customers searching specific model numbers like "15-3025" or "91-1502" are working on units that exist but are not individually cataloged in the BLN-10006 TI. The eventual Series 15 / Series 70 cross-reference page captures these models even though the BLN does not.
The 91- prefix for tandem hydraulic pumps is analogous to the 90- prefix used for 15U and 15 In-line transmissions documented in BLN-10006.
Series 40 M46 Medium-duty variable pumps, tandem pumps and variable motors
The Series 40 M46 family is a single frame size, 046 (45.9 cc/rev), with three configurations sharing the same rotating-group internals: M46 PV (single variable pump), M46 PT (tandem pump, two pumping sections / common shaft), and M46 MV (variable axial piston motor). Medium-duty positioning between the smaller M25/M35/M44 and the heavy-duty Series 90. Operating envelope to 345 bar / 5000 psi.
L1001029Technical Information: Axial Piston Pumps Series 40 M46Current
The current technical information document for the Series 40 M46 medium-duty pump and motor family. Documents the multi-position model code with Position E (input shaft / aux spline), Position F (rotation and valve plate, codes S/T/V/Z), Position G (charge pump: A=external supply 19 l/min for single, B=13.9 cc integral, A=external 38 l/min for tandem, C=22.9 cc integral), Position H (charge pressure setting: B=19.5 bar / 283 psi, J=21.5 bar / 312 psi, S=25.0 bar / 363 psi calibrated for EDC/HDC controls).
Tandem pump model codes add rear-section positions Q, U, X, V, Y, Z, W after the shared front-section positions.
Operating envelope: 345 bar (5000 psi) maximum system pressure. Positions M46 in the medium-duty space between the smaller M25/M35/M44 units and the heavy-duty Series 90 / Series 51 platforms.

SB-317982Series 20 Valve Plate and Bearing Plate Replacement (Frames 25, 26, 27)Not publicly distributed
The most-cited Series 20 service bulletin in the rebuilder community. Documents the early-production all-brass bearing plate (P/Ns including 9250279, 9260096, 9270526) versus the late-production bi-metal bearing plate (P/Ns 9250627, 9260321, 9270657) and the matching valve plate part-number changes for each frame size.
Restopower position: when rebuilding any pre-late-production Series 20 frame 25, 26 or 27, the late bi-metal bearing plate is the recommended upgrade. Mixing early and late components within a single rebuild is generally not advised.

Documents the supersession of trunnion bearing kit P/N 9510260 by P/N 9510639. Manufacturing-date-window basis: units built on or after manufacturing date 88-01 use the new kit; earlier units use the old kit.
SB-8824 Rev. ASeries 20 Adapter Design Improvement (Charge Pressure Test Port)Not publicly distributed
Documents a charge-pressure test port adapter design improvement on Series 20 variable pumps. Listed for completeness; the practical impact is that newer-production Series 20 units have a charge pressure test port that older units do not.

1988-era Series 90 bulletins covering: SB-1988-009 servo arm / swashplate change, SB-1988-016 slipper holddown clearance, SB-1988-023 piston improvement, SB-1988-024 remote pressure filtration change. Topics are documented; bulletin text is not publicly available.
SB-1989-002 / 003 / 006Series 90 Service Bulletins (1989 batch)Not publicly distributed
1989-era Series 90 bulletins: SB-1989-002 incorporation of adjustable charge relief valve, SB-1989-003 leveler / servo pressure check valves, SB-1989-006 charge pump redesign.
BLN-10107Series 90 Charge Pump Design ChangeNot publicly distributed
Documents the Series 90 charge pump design change spanning manufacturing dates 89-17 through 93-09. Practical implication: customers ordering replacement charge pumps for Series 90 units built in this window must know which side of the manufacturing-date split their unit falls on, because the pre- and post-change parts are not interchangeable.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is BLN-9565?
BLN-9565 is the Sundstrand-Sauer Series 20 Pumps and Motors Technical Information document from the 1980s, covering the Series 20 axial piston pump and motor product line in frames 21 through 27. Superseded in 2003 by Sauer-Danfoss document 520L0517 / DKMH.PN.315.A1.02, the same product line under updated frame designations 070, 089, 334.
What replaced BLN-2-40588?
BLN-2-40588, the Sauer-Sundstrand Series 90 Price Book, was superseded in June 1996 by BLN-2-41660, the Series 90 42cc through 250cc Quick Reference Service Parts Manual that consolidates the full Series 90 service-parts catalog in one document.
Where can I find Service Bulletin 317982?
Sauer-Danfoss / Danfoss Power Solutions does not publish service bulletins to the public. SB-317982 covers the valve plate and bearing plate replacement procedure for Sundstrand Series 20 frame sizes 25, 26 and 27. The early-vs-late part-number changes the bulletin documents are reflected in the service-parts manual BLN-2-41626.
What is the difference between 520L0603 and 520L0440?
520L0603 is the current Series 90 axial piston pumps technical information. 520L0440 is the Series 51 / 51-1 bent-axis motors technical information, a different product family. The two are sometimes confused because they fall in the same Danfoss numbering range.
Was Sundstrand renamed to Sauer-Danfoss or Danfoss?
Yes. The line went through four naming generations: Sundstrand (until ~1990), Sundstrand-Sauer / Sauer-Sundstrand (1990s), Sauer-Danfoss (2000-2013), and Danfoss Power Solutions (2013-present). A part stamped “Sauer-Sundstrand” and a part stamped “Danfoss” can refer to identical hardware. The brand changed; the engineering, in most cases, did not.
Is BLN-9565 still available as a current document?
No. BLN-9565 is a Sundstrand-Sauer-era document and is not in current Danfoss publication. The successor document 520L0517 (also numbered DKMH.PN.315.A1.02, dated 2003) is the current technical information reference for the Series 20 pump line and covers the same physical product family under updated 3-digit frame designations.
How do I read a Series 90 model code?
Series 90 pump model codes have a family prefix (S90), then 14 logical positions encoding rotation (R/L), frame size (042, 055, 075, 100, 130, 180, 250), control type (CA, DC, DD, HF, KA, KN, KT, KP, MA, MB and others), high-pressure regulation, auxiliary mounting pad, endcap ports, filtration, displacement limitation, shaft option, charging system, control orifices, A and B port pressure settings, and special hardware features. The full position-by-position decode is in 520L0603 pages 21-25.
