| 1. Port O-rings | Remove the manifold port O-rings (20) if the motor is manifold ported. |
| 2. Bolts | Remove the five or six special bolts (1, 1A, 1B or 1C) and inspect them. Stretched or galled bolts are not reusable. |

| 14. Housing | Inspect the housing (17) for cracks and the machined surfaces for nicks, burrs, brinelling or corrosion. |
| 1. Clean the seal bore | Clean the motor housing seal bore thoroughly to remove any debris before anything goes back in. |
| 2. Housing in the vise | Place the housing (17) into a soft jawed vise with the coupling shaft bore down, clamping on the mounting flange. |
| 3. Bearings | Assemble the thrust washer (13) then the thrust bearing (12). On TC, TS, TB and TE the coupling shaft seats directly against the thrust bearing. |
| 4. Coupling shaft | Pack the outer housing bearing or bushing (18) generously with the recommended grease, then install the coupling shaft (10) and seat it against the thrust bearing. |
| 5. Seal ring | Apply a small amount of clean grease to a new seal ring (3) and insert it into the housing seal ring groove. |
| 6. Drive link and wear plate | Fit the drive link (9), then assemble the wear plate (8) over the drive link and the alignment studs onto the housing. |
| 7. Rotor set | Assemble the rotor set onto the wear plate, seal ring side up. Install the vanes into the stator vane pockets. |
| 8. Manifold | Assemble the manifold (6) over the alignment studs and drive link and onto the rotor set. Orient the seam in item 7 towards the rear cover. |
| 9. Commutator | Assemble the commutator ring (5) over the alignment studs onto the manifold, then the commutator set. |
| 10. End cover | Assemble the end cover over the alignment studs and onto the commutator set. |
| 11. Bolts | Fit the five or six special bolts finger tight, then torque to 25 to 30 ft. lbs. in a crossing pattern. |
| 12. Valve plugs | Where fitted, torque shuttle valve plugs to 9 to 12 ft. lbs. and relief valve plugs to 45 to 55 ft. lbs. |
| 13. Final check | Rotate the coupling shaft by hand. It must take no more than 50 ft. lbs. |

Repair Service →A seal kit, a blind hole bearing puller in the right sizes for your series, a bearing mandrel on the TC, TS, TB and TE frames, a feeler gauge reading 0.005 in, a torque wrench in ft. lbs. and a soft jawed vise. Kit SK000472 includes the seal removal and installation tool; SK000473 is the same kit without it, so order the 472 the first time.
The through bolts (items 1, 1A, 1B, 1C, 5/16-24 UNF-2A) take 25 to 30 ft. lbs. (33 to 40 N m). The 5/8-18 coupling shaft bolt takes 140 to 180 ft. lbs. The output nut takes 175 to 255 ft. lbs. on TC, TB and TE, and the TJ castle nut takes 250 to 300 ft. lbs. Shuttle valve plugs are 9 to 12 ft. lbs. and relief valve plugs 45 to 55 ft. lbs.
Rotate the coupling shaft by hand at the end. It must take no more than 50 ft. lbs. (68 N m). Anything stiffer means something is pinched, misaligned or a seal ring has rolled, and running it will destroy the new parts. Strip it back rather than testing it on the machine.
Check the date code on the nameplate, not just the model code. Motors built before date code 34824 take the legacy kits SK000090 in Buna-N or SK000091 in Viton. Later motors take SK000472 or SK000473. TF, TG, TH and TL take SK000092. Ordering the wrong side of that date is the most common Torqmotor parts mistake.
Every seal is one-use: the seal rings, commutator seal, shaft seal, backup ring, backup washer and the dirt and water seal. All of them are in the seal kit. Inspect and replace as needed the rotor set, wear plate, manifold, commutator set, thrust bearing and thrust washer, and the through bolts if they are stretched or galled.
